About Rogfree
Project RogFree is an initiative towards improving hygiene of poor people. According to the WHO, more than 2.3 million children below five years of age die in India annually. Of these, about 334,000 die from diarrhoea-related diseases. These diseases can be curbed to a large extent by simply washing hands with soap. Everyday millions of semi-used and unused soap bars are thrown away by various hotels across India. Project RogFree acts as a bridge to recycle these soap bars for use by poorer sections to promote their health and well being.
Our single most important raw material is semi and unused soaps from hotels, which are typically trashed. Instead of these being thrown away as waste, we convert them into brand new soaps through a hygienic process. These soaps are neatly packaged and distributed to poor people across rural and urban India.
Hotels can play an important role in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan (Campaign Clean India), a national level initiative by the Government of India covering 4,041 towns. Joining hands with Project RogFree would help reduce the trash/waste generated by them and recycle it at the same time. This can be an excellent image enhancer for hotels to become socially responsible entities as leading Corporates, celebrities and eminent personalities like our Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi is closely associated with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan.
Instead of trashing the soaps and harming the environment, hotels can join Project RogFree and use these discarded soap bars for supporting a noble cause – improving hygiene standards of poor people. This would help hotels improve their image without incurring any additional costs. It will be a Win-Win situation for all stakeholders – rural & urban poor and hotels.
